These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Vault App (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
The Service is intended only for individuals who are at least 18 years old and located within the United States.
By creating an account or using the Service, you represent and warrant that:
Accounts that do not meet these eligibility requirements may be suspended or terminated.
The Service is a password manager designed to help users securely store and manage passwords, secure notes, credit card information, contacts, and other sensitive data.
The Service uses encryption and a zero-knowledge architecture designed to help protect user data. Because of this architecture, the contents of your encrypted vault remain inaccessible to anyone but you.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including your master password.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and for ensuring that your account information remains accurate and up to date.
Your master password is used to protect access to your encrypted vault.
Because of the zero-knowledge architecture:
You may generate a recovery code in the Service while you still know your master password. That code lets you set a new master password on your device and keep your vault. Generating a new recovery code replaces the previous one. Changing your master password unsets the current recovery wrap.
If you lose your master password and do not have a recovery code, you may reset your vault from the sign-in flow. Resetting keeps your account and permanently deletes all vault items. The Service cannot restore deleted items or recover sealed vault contents. You are solely responsible for maintaining access to your master password and any recovery code you generate. Paid billing can still be canceled as described under Subscriptions and Billing.
Paid plans (such as Enterprise) are billed through Stripe. Prices, billing intervals, and features are described on the Pricing or Plans pages of the Service.
If you can sign in to your account, you may manage or cancel your subscription from Plans using Manage subscription, which opens Stripe's customer billing portal.
You may also cancel or update billing through self-serve Stripe channels tied to the billing email and payment method you provided at checkout, including:
If you lose your master password, you can still cancel through those Stripe channels. You can also use a recovery code to set a new master password, or reset your vault so you can sign in again. Resetting your vault permanently deletes vault items and does not restore them. Canceling a subscription does not restore vault access if your master password is lost, and does not entitle you to a refund except where required by law or expressly stated at the time of purchase.
You should keep access to the billing email address used at checkout. Failure to cancel through available methods may result in continued billing until the subscription is canceled in Stripe.
All vault data is encrypted before being stored or synchronized.
While reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards protect the Service, no system can guarantee absolute security.
You retain ownership of all data stored within your vault.
By using the Service, you grant only the limited rights necessary to operate, maintain, and provide the Service.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
You may not:
The Service aims to provide reliable access but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, upgrades, security measures, technical issues, or circumstances beyond control.
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and content, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
These Terms do not grant you ownership of any intellectual property related to the Service.
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, all warranties are disclaimed, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, there is no liability for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages.
There is no liability for any loss of profits, revenue, business opportunities, goodwill, use, or data arising from or related to your use of the Service.
Access to the Service may be suspended or terminated if you violate these Terms or if continued access would present a security, legal, or operational risk.
You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time.
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the Service after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Iowa, without regard to conflict of law principles.
